Surrounded by high elevation mountains topped with páramo habitats, and birth place of one of the biggest Amazonian rivers in Colombia, the Putumayo river, this region is influenced by the humid and warm air rising from the amazon up to the Andes peaks creating forested slopes where a lot of species of flora and fauna exist at different elevation levels.

Highlights: The scrub forest at the Páramos are populated with a high number of Lepanthes, Telipogon and Pleurothallids, and showy species like Telipogon diabolica, Masdevallia uncifera and Cyrtochilum sodiroi can be found. When you start going to lower elevations other species appear, including the fantastic Odontoglossum crispum and the amazing Telipogon hausmannianus together with the strange Dracula cochliops, the giant Maxillaria sanderiana and several Andinia, Masdevallia, Maxillaria, Epidendrum, Pleurothallis and Lepanthes species.
